Apply for this Marianne Initiative for Human Rights Defenders 2024/25

Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Marianne Initiative, a program supporting courageous human rights champions worldwide. Launched by French President Emmanuel Macron in 2021, this initiative provides vital assistance to human rights defenders both globally and in France.

Each year, approximately 15 outstanding individuals are selected from hundreds of candidates by an independent expert committee to participate in a comprehensive 6-month program in France. They receive:

– Accommodation and a stipend
– Personalized support and training
– Opportunities to share experiences and strengthen skills
– Networking and project development

The program includes:

– Workshops on negotiation, leadership, and advocacy
– Courses from Sciences Po Paris and French language instruction
– Meetings with influential figures in human rights and development
– Cultural events and conferences
– Individualized support for their activist projects
– Visits to international organizations and institutions
– Connection with alumni network members

Provincial Coordinators

Provincial coordinators serve as the primary points of contact for CO in their respective provinces. They are responsible for identifying and communicating relevant opportunities to young people and organizations within their area. They work closely with district leaders and campus ambassadors to ensure that information about opportunities is disseminated effectively.
